We bring together students, professionals, researchers, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and partners to promote inclusive innovation, AI education, policy engagement, and opportunities for Black communities in Canada.

About the Role

AINBI is seeking a creative, organized, and dependable Volunteer Social Media Manager to help manage our social media platforms, promote our programs and events, and increase awareness of our work.

This is an entry-level opportunity for a student, recent graduate, early-career professional, newcomer, or community member who wants to gain practical experience in social media, communications, digital marketing, and nonprofit engagement.

Extensive professional experience is not required. Training, guidance, and support will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

The Volunteer Social Media Manager will:

  • Help manage AINBI’s social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and other relevant channels.
  • Develop a simple monthly social media calendar.
  • Create and schedule engaging social media posts.
  • Promote AINBI programs, webinars, events, research, volunteer opportunities, and community activities.
  • Write clear, professional, and engaging captions.
  • Create simple graphics and promotional materials using Canva or similar tools.
  • Share news and educational content related to artificial intelligence, innovation, technology, and Black communities.
  • Support social media campaigns and public-awareness initiatives.
  • Work with AINBI team members to collect information, photos, updates, and event details.
  • Support live social media coverage during selected webinars and events.
  • Track basic social media results, including reach, engagement, followers, and post performance.
  • Prepare short monthly social media updates for AINBI leadership.
  • Ensure that content follows AINBI’s branding, values, and communication style.
  • Help keep AINBI’s online information accurate and up to date.

Skills and Qualifications

  • The ability to write clear and engaging captions.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage several small tasks and meet deadlines.
  • The ability to work independently in a remote environment.
  • A respectful, positive, and collaborative approach.
  • An interest in artificial intelligence, technology, innovation, and Black communities.

Previous professional social media experience is not required.

Experience managing a school, community, personal, volunteer, or small-business social media account is an asset.

Time Commitment

The volunteer will contribute approximately 5–7 hours per week for six months.

The position is fully remote and offers flexible working hours. The volunteer will also attend occasional virtual team meetings, webinars, and events.
