The Tetra Society is looking for self motivated individuals with the skills to build custom assistive devices for Kingston residents with a disability. We are looking for engineers, carpenters, handymen, seamstress, anyone with the skills to contribute to a project that will give a Kingston resident with a disability, more independence in their life. There are no minimum hours, we appreciate any time that you can share your skills. You decide on the project you wish to work on, alone or with another volunteer. Tetra covers all the cost associated with the project, including transportation costs to and from the store and the client's residence. About Us: At Tetra, volunteers design and build custom assistive devices that help people with physical disabilities overcome environmental barriers, increase independence, and improve quality of life. Examples include mobility aids, communication supports, and creative adaptive solutions you won’t find in stores. What You’ll Do: - Design and build custom assistive devices for people with disabilities - Collaborate with other volunteers to solve real-world challenges - Use your skills in woodwork, metalwork, sewing, electronics, mechanics, etc. Who we're looking for: - People with abilities in woodwork, metalwork, sewing, electrical or mechanical skills; skilled tradespeople, craftspeople, engineers, technicians - No formal credentials required, if you love making things and helping others, we want to hear from you! - Creative problem-solvers passionate about accessibility and inclusion Flexible Commitment: - No minimum hours required - volunteer as much or as little as you like - Mileage and materials are reimbursed!
