Join our H'art Studio program and work alongside artist participants with intellectual or developmental disabilities and community artist instructors to support inclusive arts workshops in visual arts, theatre, dance, music, storytelling and more. Volunteers will gain hands on experience and contribute to a supportive creative community.Volunteers are asked to commit about half a day per week for six months. This helps ensure a consistent and rewarding experience for everyone.Getting StartedTo join us as a volunteer, you’ll need to: Complete a short volunteer application you can find at www.hartcentre.ca/volunteer Arrange a brief visit and interview with our team Complete a standard Criminal Background Check (CPIC), which can be done online Take part in our introductory MixAbilities Inclusive Arts Training (the first four modules) We’ll guide you through each part of the process and are happy to answer any questions along the way.Volunteers: Assist community arts instructors during workshops Support and encourage artist-participants in activities Help set up and clean up workshop spaces Contribute to creating a welcoming, positive, inclusive environmentWhat Will You Gain: Introduction to inclusive arts through the first modules of our MixAbilities Inclusive Arts Training program. Volunteers who are artists or arts educators may continue with full training if they wish. The Tetra Society is looking for self motivated individuals with the skills to build custom assistive devices for Kingston residents with a disability. We are looking for engineers, carpenters, handymen, seamstress, anyone with the skills to contribute to a project that will give a Kingston resident with a disability, more independence in their life. There are no minimum hours, we appreciate any time that you can share your skills. You decide on the project you wish to work on, alone or with another volunteer. Tetra covers all the cost associated with the project, including transportation costs to and from the store and the client's residence.
