About AINBI

AI Nexus for Black Innovators (AINBI) advances the participation, leadership, and visibility of Black communities in artificial intelligence, technology, innovation, and public policy.

Position Overview

AINBI is seeking a strategic and relationship-focused Volunteer Director of Partnerships and Public Engagement to help expand our national network, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and build meaningful collaborations.

The Director will work closely with AINBI leadership to engage government, corporations, academic institutions, community organizations, technology leaders, funders, and Black professionals across Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead AINBI’s partnership and public-engagement strategy.
  • Identify and build relationships with government, corporate, academic, nonprofit, and community partners.
  • Support outreach to sponsors, funders, speakers, experts, and institutional leaders.
  • Represent AINBI at meetings, consultations, roundtables, conferences, and community events.
  • Develop partnership proposals, outreach letters, briefing notes, and engagement materials.
  • Build collaborations that support AINBI’s programs, policy work, research, webinars, and public events.
  • Coordinate stakeholder meetings and maintain partnership records and follow-up plans.
  • Identify opportunities for sponsorship, joint initiatives, public education, and national visibility.
  • Advise AINBI leadership on stakeholder engagement and external relations.
  • Support public consultations and community conversations on AI and Black communities.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in partnerships, stakeholder relations, public engagement, business development, government relations, or community development.
  • Strong relationship-building and professional communication skills.
  • Experience engaging senior leaders, organizations, or community stakeholders.
  • The ability to develop partnerships from initial outreach to ongoing collaboration.
  • Strong organizational, negotiation, and follow-up skills.
  • The ability to work independently and collaborate with a remote team.
  • An interest in artificial intelligence, innovation, public policy, and Black community advancement.

Experience working with government, corporations, technology organizations, nonprofits, academic institutions, or community networks is an asset.
