Inclusive Arts Volunteer

Join our H'art Studio program and work alongside artist participants with intellectual or developmental disabilities and community artist instructors to support inclusive arts workshops in visual arts, theatre, dance, music, storytelling and more. Volunteers will gain hands on experience and contribute to a supportive creative community.Volunteers are asked to commit about half a day per week for six months. This helps ensure a consistent and rewarding experience for everyone.Getting StartedTo join us as a volunteer, you’ll need to: Complete a short volunteer application you can find at www.hartcentre.ca/volunteer Arrange a brief visit and interview with our team Complete a standard Criminal Background Check (CPIC), which can be done online Take part in our introductory MixAbilities Inclusive Arts Training (the first four modules) We’ll guide you through each part of the process and are happy to answer any questions along the way.Volunteers: Assist community arts instructors during workshops Support and encourage artist-participants in activities Help set up and clean up workshop spaces Contribute to creating a welcoming, positive, inclusive environmentWhat Will You Gain: Introduction to inclusive arts through the first modules of our MixAbilities Inclusive Arts Training program. Volunteers who are artists or arts educators may continue with full training if they wish. Learn and develop skills in inclusive arts facilitation Gain experience in creative, inclusive environments Build confidence and leadership skills Be part of a supportive community of artists, families, and volunteers Enhance career and personal development opportunities Enjoy new experiences and meet a diverse range of people

Have you ever wondered what it takes to host a sailing competition? Well, glad you asked!CORK owns 16 boats, a mixture of fibreglass and large inflatables that are used as Race Management boats for every event. In addition to our boats, our dedicated equipment team maintains all CORK gear, from simple signal flags to a host of electronics and the latest robotic buoys.We are looking for volunteers interested in learning more about the behind the scenes team that ensures our events take place each summer! There are many areas to help with - come check us out and meet the team! Boat experience helpful but not necessary.CORK needs help with:-assessing boats and equipment for safety-organizing equipment, supplies and radios-equipping safety and race management boats with supplies as necessary-helping to launch and bring back in registered boats-painting, fixing, organizing boats, equipment and supplies-building, woodworking, mechanical/electricalVolunteers meet every Tuesday, and then sign up for regattas throughout the season. The Tetra Society is looking for self motivated individuals with the skills to build custom assistive devices for Kingston residents with a disability. We are looking for engineers, carpenters, handymen, seamstress, anyone with the skills to contribute to a project that will give a Kingston resident with a disability, more independence in their life. There are no minimum hours, we appreciate any time that you can share your skills. You decide on the project you wish to work on, alone or with another volunteer. Tetra covers all the cost associated with the project, including transportation costs to and from the store and the client's residence. Literacy Link Eastern Ontario is seeking volunteers who are passionate about literacy and community service to join us as members of our Board of Directors to help us achieve our mission of empowering literacy service providers and learners in Eastern Ontario. We are a small but mighty organization with a vision that adult literacy service providers have access to excellent education and skill development tools that will support student learners in achieving their goals. We develop connections, communications, resources and collaborations to support adult literacy and adult learning opportunities.Joining our Board of Directors offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our organization and the adult education system in Ontario. You will be able to share your knowledge, experience and expertise or develop valuable leadership skills and experience working in a provincially funded nonprofit charity.
