Founded in 1994, Habitat for Humanity Kingston Limestone Region is a charitable organization working toward a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Our mission is to bring communities together to help families build strength, stability and independence through affordable homeownership in the Kingston, Frontenac, and Lennox & Addington area. With the help of many volunteers, the organization has been able to place 25 families with safe, decent and affordable homeownership.
Weller Arms Non-Profit Homes is a small 30 unit apartment building for low-income seniors. The majority of our tenants come from the city of Kingston's Social Housing Registry. We have a small community volunteer Board of Directors and 2 part time staff.
Ryandale provides a sober living space for homeless men. It does not discriminate against past drug use, mental illness or time spent in prison. Residents spend up to one year learning life skills, healing from trauma and/or addiction and overcoming the obstacles that led them to become homeless. With Ryandale’s help, people can reduce their risk of relapsing and improve their chances of staying housed.
Girls Inc. Limestone inspires all girls to be strong, smart and bold through the delivery of dynamic, life-changing programs designed specifically to meet the needs of girls and young women. We are a growing non-profit organization serving more than 1,600 girls and young women in Frontenac, Lennox and Addington, Hastings and Prince Edward Counties each year. King's Town School is looking for judges for our school Heritage Fair. Students benefit greatly from hearing feedback on their projects. King's Town School Heritage fair will be taking place Thursday, May 5th from 12:45-3:15pm. The Canadian Association for Girls In Science (CAGIS) is Canada’s largest and longest-running STEM club for girls, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming youth aged 7-16. This award-winning club, founded in 1992, supports interest in Science, Technology, Trades, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with virtual programming and local clubs that visit labs, workshops, and field sites to meet mentors and do fun, hands-on activities.
Start2Finish is a national nonprofit that works with elementary school students in over 70 under-resourced communities across the country.
Our mission is to break the cycle of child poverty by providing ongoing educational support to Canada’s at-risk children throughout their school years, nurturing mind, body and social health so they are empowered to succeed and become role models for change. Our vision is to eradicate the effects of child poverty in Canada.
We operate free running and reading clubs once a week at partner elementary schools that focus on physical activity and literacy development. Students work towards completing a 5km run by the end of the program and also participate in reading challenges. These clubs run from October to the end of May.
