The Kingston Womenās Art Festival is run entirely by the dedication of its enthusiastic volunteers. The success of the Festival depends on many hard working hands.
Every year, our volunteers help with such things as registration on the morning of the event, the silent auction throughout the day, and offering assistance to booths to give our wonderful artists washroom breaks and time to eat, to name a few.
The "Friends of the Penitentiary Museum Inc." (FPM) was formed in the late 1990s. Its job: to assist with the development and operation of the only museum in Canada dedicated solely to the presentation and interpretation of the history of Canada's federal penitentiaries. The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) realized that the museum, originally established at the Correctional Staff College (Ontario) in 1967, provided a very positive link with the community at the local as well as national and international levels. To ensure the museum's continuing operation in a climate of tightening budgets, something had to be done.
Situated within territories of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Huron-Wendat, the Agnes Etherington Art Centre is a curatorially-driven and research-intensive professional art centre that proudly serves a dual mandate as a leading, internationally recognized public art gallery and as an active pedagogical resource at Queenās University in Kingston. By commissioning, researching, collecting and stewarding works of art, and by exhibiting and interpreting visual culture through an intersectional lens, Agnes creates opportunities for participation and exchange across communities, cultures, histories and geographies.
Its collectionsānumbering over 17,000 worksāinclude cutting-edge contemporary art and fine examples of Canadian historical art, Indigenous art and historicized ancestors, and material culture including the Collection of Canadian Dress and the Lang Collection of African Art.Ā The Bader Collection, comprising over 500 works with a focus on seventeenth-century Dutch and Flemish painting, includes one portrait and three exquisite character studies by Rembrandt.
Agnes is committed to anti-racism. We work to eradicate institutional biases and develop accountable programs that support and centre the artistic expression and lived experience of Black, Indigenous and People of Colour. Agnes promotes 2SLGBTQIAP+ positive spaces. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.

We do this toĀ nurture aĀ vibrant, excitingĀ and supportiveĀ culture thatĀ encouragesĀ artists, staff,Ā volunteers andĀ audiences toĀ reach beyondĀ limiting beliefsĀ andĀ expectations.Ā To value andĀ recognizeĀ artistsĀ individually forĀ their abilities,Ā and to shareĀ thisĀ understandingĀ with the world.
The Kingston Scout Museum was established in 2007 as a physical space, offering visitors a view of the history of Scouting in Kingston. In 2022, the building we occupied was demolished, and in late 2023, rebranded as a virtual museum. Since then, our collections and exhibits have been viewed across the country and in more than 80 countries. We continue to receive donations of artifacts that we preserve, digitize and share.
Harmonaire Musique is a federally registered Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to integrating classical music into contemporary cultural life and creating meaningful opportunities for emerging artists. Through original concert projects, we connect new artistic voices with audiences in ways that are relevant, accessible, and artistically rigorous.
Kingston and Area Seed System (KASSI) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to facilitating the development of a regional agricultural seed system. KASSI is responsible for stewarding over 200 open-pollinated, heirloom varieties. Our organization is made up of dedicated volunteers that are passionate about gardening, seed saving and the future food security of the Kingston region.
A Greener Future is an environmental non-profit dedicated to leading the effort in sustaining a clean and healthy environment. By bringing together a community of volunteers and environmental stewards, we facilitate programs that eliminate waste from the environment. As education is at the centre of what we do, we inspire change through a variety of learning opportunities. Our programs raise awareness about plastic pollution in the Great Lakes Region, and detailed data collection sheds a light on the most common items that are found during litter cleanups. Together our impact is wide-reaching, bringing us one step closer to our goal.
TheĀ Kingston Field NaturalistsĀ (KFN) is a nature club and charitable organization, active since 1949. Its objectives are the preservation of wildlife and natural habitats, and the stimulation of peopleās interest in nature.
The Club membership has a diversity of interests in nature, so a variety of activities take place year-round. Bird watching trips, nature rambles, wildflower walks and other field trips are led by knowledgeable individuals from both within and outside the Club. Each May the public is invited to join a series of bird walks.
Monthly meetings are normally open to both membersĀ and the public. They feature guest speakers including naturalists, scientists, conservationists and photographers who speak on a wide range of subjects. Meetings are currently in-person with an option to join via video conference.
Members regularly participate in hands-on conservation projects such as habitat stewardship and wildlife surveys.
The Algonquin to Adirondacks Collaborative (A2A) is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing a critical wildlife corridor connecting Algonquin Park in Ontario and Adirondack Park in New York. We formed from the recognition that conserving this globally significant landscapeāone of the last large-scale, intact forest and wetland linkages in Eastern North Americaārequires a collaborative, grassroots effort. As a backbone organization, we facilitate collaboration, research, and project development among a wide array of local partners, including land trusts, Indigenous groups, community associations, and academic institutions. Our work is driven by a deep understanding of local ecosystems and community needs, ensuring that our conservation efforts are both science-based and locally rooted.

The Gananoque & District Humane Society is a compassionate community-driven organization dedicated to the welfare and protection of cats in our region. As a no-kill shelter, we provide a haven, care and adoption services for abandoned, neglected and surrendered felines, while promoting responsible pet ownership and animal welfare throughout our community.
Secondhand Stories Chicken Sanctuary is a non-profit sanctuary in Perth, ON, dedicated to providing lifelong care for rescued farmed chickens. Our mission is to inspire compassion for chickens through rescue, advocacy, and education.
